Excel Wins Long Course Championships!

Benji DeMotte

Congratulations to our entire club for an incredible SES Championship meet. For the first time in over a decade, Excel scored 3,027 points to bring home a win over runner-up Ensworth (2,400) and reigning long course champions Huntsville (2,065).

What makes this win historic is that for the first time in our club’s history, Excel has won the Short Course 8 and Under Championships, the Short Course Region 1 Championships, the Short Course Southeastern Swimming Championships and now the Long Course Southeastern Championships, all in 2023.

Along the way, we also picked up first place finishes in the 10 and Under Boys, the 13-14 Girls, and the 13-14 Boys age groups. While the combined scores of each age group are not official awards, we did place first in the 9-10 combined, the 11-12 combined and the 13-14 combined categories as well.

The win was a reflection of our focus on building a team from the youngest age groups and training all our swimmers with an IM focus from an early age.

A huge congratulations to all our swimmers, coaches, and parents on this historic win for Excel!
